What are short films? Codes and conventions.

  • Any film not long enough to be considered a feature film.

  • Length – Anywhere between 1 – 30 minutes

  • Storylines – Usually simple and easy to follow

  • Twist

  • Characters

  • Convey a strong emotion to the viewer, sometimes making comments on morals or society in the process

Who are short films aimed at? And why?

  • Smaller and niche audience.

How are they usually distributed?

  • Largely accessible for free through the internet.

  • Very rarely shown at cinemas or on television.

  • DVDs can be brought with selections of short films on.
