One Mans Loss
  • It could be considered a comedy or a drama, it doesn't seem to fit in a specific category because it has a moral to it however it is very unrealistic which gives it a comdeic twist.

Genre
Narrative
  •  The basic storyline of the short film is about a homeless man's luck that turns all the way around. It begins with him cutting his foot on a piece of glass outside an arguing couples flat. And by the end of the short film he has new clothes, a car and a girl.

Character
  • We don't get to know the characters well, or by name however this is not unusual for a short film as there is not enough time in the film to be able to learn their names and things about them, instead we are thrown straight into the plot. It is obvious that the homeless man is the main character as the story is focused around them. The other characters include the boyfriend, who we dislike from the moment we meet him because of his seemingly obnoxious behaviour, and the girlfriend who we have little opinion on.

  • The two main locations we see is the flat which is a very spacious and well lit room, a good place to film, as well as setting the scene well as it appears to be empty, indicating the relationship between the two may not be great, it doesnt look like comfortable place people would wish to live, not very homely. The other location is out on the street with the homeless man, this just looks like a stereotypical street

Location
Camera Shots
  • Non-Diegetic - The music playing is presumably a piano which seems fitting to the homeless man's walking and wondering around as it isn't too dramatic.

  • Diegetic - Speaking from the arguing couple but it seems slightly muffled, perhaps trying to portray what the homeless man is hearing.

Sound
  • It isn't restricted to a particular genre or age, this 6 minute film seems to be suited to many audience members.

Audience
Editing
  • The editing is not very complex just basic cuts between shots, keeping consistancy.
