 Editing

The editing software we used was Final Cut Pro, we used this for both rough cut and the final film. This was different from last year as we used Sony Movie Studio Platinum 120, so using final cut pro was i new challange and it took a while to get used to however, after a few hours of usewe found it much more easier to use than the sony software the previous year.

Me and Meg put all of our shots into the editor so we could select easily which ones to use. We found out after we had done this when completing a film proffesionally you enter a word with each clip so it means you would be able to locate the shots you were looking for, quicker and easier, however we did not know this until it was too late, although it is something we will take foward in the future.

As we had a lot of dancing shots it was sometimes difficult to decide which ones to use but as it was a rough cut we could put them in a certain order and change them if told to in our feedback. The shots were not cut due to this being a rough cut so the production was longer than 5 minutes but gave people a sense of how our production would go so that we could obtain feedback from our target audience. For our rough cut we had also not added music to it but we did take the sound out of the clips which meant that the rough cut was completley silent, which I believe made it less relatable to to the audience and people giving feedback.

When we started working on our final production after getting feedback from our rough cut (and filming more scenes) me and Meg started a new project rather than using our rough cut. However we put our rough cut into the new project. We started watching our rough cut and trimming the shots down so they were not as long and unnecessary. As well as this, we also cut out some bits we filmed such as her walking to dance class as we soon realised this was not needed.

We added effects to some of the scenes - the colour was changed on the clips which were from the future as well as fading the clips in and out from the dance scenes to make the film flow better. Once we finished trimming the clips, we added music into all of the production apart from the talking scene. We found our music from Purple Planet and decided to use two different types of music through the production which flowed together. We then faded the music in and out when the speaking began and finished as well as cross fading the two different types of music together.

Sound effects were also added such as the door opening to add more sound because it was mainly music which didn't add many layers. At the start of the production we added 'Purple Productions' with a different style of music for our production company.

The title Relevé was added in white to the beginning of the film and the end credits were added on a black screen at the end. We kept most of the font consistent so all of the film went together - similar to the music being kept of a similar style.
